Measure where your pants will sit
Stand straight and wrap a soft tape around your body at the height your jeans usually ride. For most men's baggy jeans and jorts, that is a little below the navel. Keep one finger under the tape and read the number without pulling it tight.
Match that reading to the waist on the size list for our men's jeans and jorts. Do not add inches to make the pair baggier. The leg is already cut wide, and a waist that is too big only gapes at the back.
Men's jeans: waist by length
Our carpenter jean is sized as waist by length. 30x30, 32x30 and 34x30 have a 30 inch leg. 36x32 and 38x32 have a 32 inch leg. The body waist on the tag matches the number, and the jean itself measures about an inch and a half more, which is the ease that makes it hang loose.
Our fleece-lined regular fit jean is sized by body waist from 30 to 38. Buy your usual waist, because the regular cut already leaves room for the lining.
Jorts: waist inches and where the leg stops
The baggy jort and the long jort run from a 28 to a 42 inch waist. Our size tips give the waist in centimeters: 76 for a 28, 81 for a 30, 86 for a 32, 91 for a 34, 96 for a 36, 101 for a 38, 106 for a 40 and 111 for a 42.
The baggy jort ends around the knee. The long jort falls past it toward mid calf. If you are shorter, the long pair can look like a cropped pant, and that is often the point.
Sweatpants: the letter chart
Our cotton baggy sweatpants are cut loose already, so you do not need to size up. Use the chart below from our size tips, and pick the letter whose waist range holds your number.
- XS: waist 24 to 26 inches, inseam 28 inches
- S: waist 28 to 30 inches, inseam 29 inches
- M: waist 32 to 34 inches, inseam 30 inches
- L: waist 36 to 38 inches, inseam 30 inches
- XL: waist 40 to 42 inches, inseam 31 inches
Our fleece sweatpants run large
The fleece baggy sweatpants are longer and larger than a regular fit. Take the size that matches your waist for the baggy look, or one size down if you want them closer to the leg.
Women's jeans and jorts: US numbers
Our women's jeans use US sizes that step up an inch at the waist: size 2 fits a 26 inch waist, 4 fits 27, 6 fits 28, 8 fits 29, 10 fits 30, 12 fits 31 and 14 fits 32.
Measure at your natural waist for the mid rise pairs, the two boyfriend jeans and the fleece-lined straight leg. For the low rise baggy jean and the low rise flare, measure a few inches lower, on your hips, where the waistband will rest. The denim short and the lounge pieces size by letter instead.
